Pacific National has awarded UGL contracts with a totalling A$594m for the supply and maintenance of locomotives, including the first order for the 1067 mm gauge version of GE’s PowerHaul family.
UGL is to supply PN with three 1 067 mm gauge PH37 PowerHaul freight locomotives, along with three more Class 93 C44ACi locomotives.
Three existing maintenance contracts covering Siemens Class 71, UGL/GE Class 92/93 and Goninan Class NR locomotives have been extended from their current end dates to run until a common end date on June 30 2026, and a new contract has been agreed for the maintenance of Pacific National’s EMD loco fleet in the state of Victoria which will also run to the same date.
‘We are very pleased to extend our long term relationship with Pacific National and look forward to working together over the next 10 years in the provision of cost-effective and efficient locomotive maintenance services’, said UGL CEO Ross Taylor on June 29.
