The apprenticeship is intended to ensure there are plenty of qualified truck drivers amid a shortage in the nation.
“This new qualification, this apprenticeship, will see more qualified drivers and we thank all of those drivers who are out there every single day,” Mr Morrison said.
“These are the people that have kept Australia moving over the last couple of years and they’ve had to deal with a lot.
“I want to say to the entire trucking industry, thank you for keeping Australia moving, thank you for keeping Australia supplied with all of those essentials that Australians rely on.”
