“We’ve been following the latest developments in rail maintenance for a long time now,” says Mr Wouter van Dijk, Prorail’s asset management director. “The various milling techniques employed by the different maintenance firms we’ve seen have given us a comprehensive picture of the results that can be achieved when rails are properly maintained.”
Vossloh will select machines from its rail milling fleet to carry out specific milling tasks according the condition of the rails.
Vossloh acquired Strabag Rail’s rail milling fleet in 2018 and has developed its own machines such as the High-Performance Milling (HPM) train and the smaller Multi-Purpose Milling Machine (MPM).
