The ARA is trying to narrow the definition of “rail safety work”. As part of the first stage in the RTBU’s response to this proposal, the National Office of the RTBU has prepared a survey to collect the feedback of members, which is available here: http://www.rtbu.org.au/rail_safety_first
We would be very grateful if you could distribute this survey to your members over the coming days.
We need as many members as possible to complete the survey by next Monday 11 February.
By way of background, the ARA’s proposal, currently being considered by the NTC, would amend section 8 of the Rail Safety National Law to restrict the definition of rail safety work to specific tasks and functions, and to no longer be based on location. By the ARA’s own admission, the only purpose of this proposal is to cut costs.
