Victoria, 3-10 to 8-10-2004
Yesterday we took a trip to Syracuse to catch some trains. Enjoy!
As we neared our exit, we passed over the yard.
There was an intermodal slowly moving out of the yard. Once we got to the yard (behind Vito’s Ristorante) we found the train slowly moving back and forth, presumably switching.
The lead locomotives were out of sight, but a CSX CW44AH was the mid-train DPU.
A “10 MPH roll-through” was heard on the scanner, and within minutes an eastbound manifest came into sight, with two GE’s for power.
This train had a very interesting car: a hopper riding on a flatcar!
There were many UP reefers on the train, but one became a canvas for some graffiti.
Look closely at this picture and you can see a third train in the background, waiting to depart the intermodal yard.
This orange coil car would be an interesting modelling project.
Here’s another view of the westbound manifest, behind the other two trains.
As the manifest rolled east, the intermodal started crawling west.
As the intermodal cleared, the westbound manifest immediately followed it.
As the westbound was still rolling through, an eastbound intermodal came charging in… continued in part 2. –Harrison
