Rath Group owns the Rurtal Railway in Germany, which operates regional lines around Düren, North Rhine-Westphalia, along with freight train operator Rurtalbahn Cargo (RTB Cargo), which operates in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium.
The Vectron locomotives already delivered are authorised for operation in Germany, Austria, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Netherlands. The two newly-ordered locomotives will also to be authorised for operation in Belgium, one of the reasons Rath Group selected the Vectron as RTB Cargo’s Belgian subsidiary has a license for operating on the Belgian network.
The newly-ordered Vectron locomotives are equipped with ETCS on board train safety system and can operator on 15kV 16.7Hz and 25kV 50Hz ac electrification as well as 1.5kV dc and 3kV dc. The vehicles have a maximum speed of 160km/h and an output of 6400kW.
