The Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan has distorted the information to the media and community with her comment in the Bendigo Advertiser (Saturday , 17 March 2018 page 2) regarding the Bendigo - Geelong Rail Link.
It appears that the level of deception by the Minister appears to be consistent with their last effort of deception being the opening and completion of the Maryborough to Ararat standardisation with the Federal Minister for Defence, which could not be further from the truth with the completion at the time and the event exposed the deception of the Public Transport Minister. The event at Avoca quarantined the media from straying and finding out that the rail line had not in fact been completed and was not operational.
In the interview with the Bendigo Advertiser, Jacinta Allan referrers to the National Party's commissioned report regarding the Bendigo - Geelong Rail Link, which has been thoroughly discredited as it was a gold plated report commissioned by National Party's MP Peter Ryan to get himself off the hook after he postulated the Bendigo Geelong Rail Link as a policy at the 2010 election.
A previous conversation that I have had with Jacinta Allan, where she acknowledged that the Peter Ryan commissioned report was a dud and a political stunt to get himself off the hook from his statement in the 2010 election, also adds weight to Peter Ryan's commissioned report being discredited.
Jacinta Allan failed to inform the media and the community that in a separate report V/line identified a daily patronage of 3,000 commuters using the service between Bendigo and Geelong and that this level of patronage would increase exponentially with the increases in the populations of the regional centres of Bendigo, Castlemaine, Maryborough, Creswick, Ballarat, Bannockburn and Geelong along the rail line and in the towns that the Bendigo - Geelong rail corridor traverses.
In the article in the Advertiser, Jacinta Allan also is dismissive of country towns who would benefit from having the rail line reopened and in her statement, Jacinta Allan exposes her limitations, lack of understanding, awareness, prejudice and ignorance towards country towns, whose economies have been successively sabotaged by politicians closing rail lines and stopping passenger rail services to their towns.
The Public Transport Minister has an undeniable history of failing to meet community expectations and accessibility and as a minister that has not established effective and purposeful relationships with local councils, community groups and organisations and businesses with regard to the reintroduction of passenger rail services to their regions and to improving passenger rail services across the Regional Fast Rail Network.
A state politician callously remarked and asserted that Maryborough would never have a passenger rail service again and through concerted efforts of Maryborough people lobbying the government, the passenger rail service was re-established and has contributed to elevating the economy of Maryborough.
Public Transport Minister, Jacinta Allan may need to change what she wishes for and alter her narrow and limited opinion about the Bendigo- Geelong Rail Link.
To date, Jacinta Allan has not provided a singular substantive reason why the Bendigo - Geelong Rail Link should not be reconstructed and have passenger services operational to link the Regional Centres.
