DB Regio selected for Rhein-Neckar operating contract
Mountain railway and cable car operator Rigi Bahnen AG has awarded Stadler a contract to supply six two-car low-floor rack electric multiple-units for entry into service from autumn 2021.
The contract signed on May 22 is worth SFr38m, including spare parts.
The Bhe4/6 EMUs are intended to replace Bhe2/4 railcars and trailers. They will have 125 seats arranged 3+2 plus 24 folding seats, with multipurpose spaces for wheelchairs, winter sport equipment or bicycles.
Last year Rigi Bahnen carried 970 000 passengers on its standard gauge Riggenbach rack equipped lines from Vitznau and Arth-Goldau to the summit station at Rigi Kulm, 1 752 m above sea level, as well as its cable car routes.
