No video this week, but we do have plenty of nice pictures. The first stop is the state of Washington, where Sound Transit is getting it done on the Hilltop Tacoma Link Extension.
A big piece of railroad history popped to the surface of the Great Salt Lake following a storm that carried 55-mph winds. Experts believe the boat belonged to the Southern Pacific Railroad and was using it to maintain a trestle and causeway over 120 years ago.
Below is a picture from the Eglinton Crosstown light-rail project in Toronto. Just west of Mount Dennis, the final concrete roof slab for a pedestrian tunnel was poured; now permanent power and communication lines can be connected, allowing train testing on the western part of the line.
Both Purple Line Extension tunnel boring machines reached the future Wilshire/Fairfax Station in southern California earlier in the week. The project serves L.A. Metro.
