Inland rail a trifecta for Toowoomba region: mayor
THE Inland Rail line, Ipswich Mwy upgrade and Sunshine Coast rail upgrade are among about 100 infrastructure projects the Federal Government will consider.
An Infrastructure Australia plan listed the projects as some of the most important infrastructure needs in the country.
Speaking at a press conference at the Brisbane Airport Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said the government was committed to finding projects in regional Australia as well as metropolitan areas.
Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce said the Inland Rail line was "visionary" and would support not just Melbourne and Brisbane, which it would link, but communities along it.
He said the project would allow farmers to get their products to ports and international markets faster than ever before.
The Federal Government will respond to the plan later in the year.
