Talks aimed at resolving the dispute over pay and conditions on the New South Wales rail network have broken up for the day without a resolution.
Representatives of unions and RailCorp are believed to have reduced the number of issues to be settled in today's negotiations but a deal which would avert industrial action has yet to be reached.
The parties will resume their talks later this week.
