In the hands of the Andrews Government the $1.45 billion would be and is an utterable waste.
The Andrews Government cannot even manage the current rail infrastructure let alone be given $1.45 Billion from the Federal Government to create new rail infrastructure and a proposed new rail line to Torque.
The Geelong - Bendigo Rail Link you would have thought this project would take precedence over a new line to Torque, because of the economic benefit and the impact it would have on education, medical treatment, social and cultural events, commercial, tourism and employment opportunities.
Then there is the Mildura line that needs and has been requesting a passenger service for 20 years and the Leongatha line with burgeoning urban development.
The list goes on with number of isolated towns and cities in regional Victoria who are desperate to regain their passenger rail service and are continually being ignored and placated by the Andrews Government.
The $1,45 Billion Regional Rail Revival is not a revival at all, it is just an attempt by the Andrews Government to revive their faltering electoral vote in 2018.
The majority of regional commuters just want reliable services that are punctual and not overcrowded and the Andrews Government cannot even deliver on this aspect of public transport.
This is the priority for any expenditure and not the smoke and mirrors or window dressing of an impoverished Andrews Government devoid of critical, strategic and solution based thinking.
