When in doubt, announce a new rail line. This seems to be the mantra of Labor and the Coalition in the lead-up to the Victorian election.
While it makes a pleasant change from "my freeway proposal is better than yours", where is the planning that supports these announcements? Having recently moved from Sydney to Bendigo, I am familiar with a state government that specialised in announcing rail lines, only to cancel or only part-build the previously announced line
All parties must come together to determine Victoria's long-term infrastructure needs, not draw an arbitrary line on a map in the hope of winning the election.
