Is Australia close to losing one of its oldest long distance passenger train service, The Overland? It began transporting people between Adelaide and Melbourne 132 years ago. But with the availability of cheap air travel and a subsequent increase in road transportation - could this be the end of the line for long distance rail services?
Telling us more about the rail industry, it’s history and future are Chris Harding, Vice President of the Australian Railway Historical Society and Associate Professor Philip Laird, an Honorary Principal Fellow at the University of Wollongong.
