The 4709 Group have released an update on the construction of their new build steam locomotive, Great Western Railway 4700 Class No.4709.
With the COVID-19 lockdown still in place since the last update, the Group have unfortunately not been able to reorganise road transport for 4709 to move from Llangollen Railway to Leaky Finders’ workshop.
On a positive note, the team at Leaky Finders have been able to work on manufacturing parts that are needed to build 4709.
Recent work has seen the spring hanger bolts in the process of being made. The bolts so far have been cut to length, and their threads machined. To complete them, the cotter slot and split pinholes will be added to each bolt.
