There are calls for Clunes to be factored into the planned train service between Ballarat and Maryborough.
A committee has been formed to lobby the Victorian Government to include the town on the timetable when the service starts next year.
John Sayers of the Committee for the Restoration of the Train to Clunes says some of the town's residents commute to Ballarat or Melbourne for work.
He says Clunes should be included on the timetable as soon as the service starts.
"One of the most important things about running a railway is the timetable and if the timetable is set now to exclude Clunes, sooner or later Clunes will have to be included and that means that the timetable will have to be completely redone and that just doesn't make sense," he said.
The State Government has not returned the ABC's calls.
