A decision on whether Traralgon will get an express train service to Melbourne could still be months away.
The State Government has held a series of meetings asking whether people in the Latrobe Valley want new fast rail services to stop at Moe, Morwell and Warragul.
Premier Steve Bracks has to decide whether to deliver a significantly faster express service or one that services more towns.
The Member for Morwell, Brendan Jenkins, says either way services will be improved.
"There's a whole range of decisions that have to be made that aren't just about that service, so I've asked people to be patient for the last couple of years, but the commitment stands," he said.
"We're not Mickey Mouse about consultation, we actually do listen and Steve Bracks has a record he got elected on that record of listening and then acting on that consultation."
