Leasing company VTG Rail Russia has awarded United Wagon Co a contract to supply 150 flat wagons for carrying timber products. Deliveries are scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
The Type 13-6852-02 wagons produced at UWC’s Tikhvin plant have a 25 tonne axle load and a loading length of 12·2 m. This provides a capacity of 74 tonnes or 122 m3, up to 10 m3 more than older designs, which would enable operators to reduce the size of their fleet. The design of the side posts also allows packaged freight to be carried, minimising empty running.
‘We are increasing and diversifying our fleet to achieve the targets set to us by our shareholders’, said Olga Yakimova, Commercial Director & Deputy CEO at VTG Rail Russia, when the latest order was announced on September 17. ‘Developing our fleet enables us to enter new markets and expand the range of services we offer.’
