THE final section of railway line comprising the Wiggins Island Balloon Loop has been laid as part of the Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal rail receival area.
The 13km rail balloon loop is being been constructed by Aurizon to facilitate trains transporting coal to the project.
The final stage of laying the rail track was completed earlier this month, with a 110m section of railway line pushed through the rail receival structure.
The rail receival building houses the dump station which takes delivery of coal from the trains, transferring it onto the 6km overland conveyor.
The coal is then transported to the stockyard north of the Gladstone-Mt Larcom Rd, before export.
