Wollondilly councillors are tonight due to discuss whether they will support the protection of a rail corridor that would allow trains to reach Wilton in the future.
Councillors Michael Banasik and Matthew Deeth put forward a plan asking the council to support government investigations into high-speed rail for Wilton.
They requested an area at Wilton be reserved for future rail and the council write to local members of parliament to request their support.
A report would also come back to council, selecting a site for rail at Wilton, along with an outline of benefits and necessary infrastructure and road upgrades.
Protection of the rail corridor would be included in the Greater Macarthur Priority Growth Area report.
