The survey series has shown that the support for the rail link has if anything grown over
the period from December 2002 to May 2005. It is interesting to note that the current
supportive findings come from a survey conducted over May 2-4 2005, a week after the
Minister for Planning & Infrastructure announced probable cost overruns in the order of
$45 Million.

Something happened to my good, close, personal friend Ernie that I have to tell you about with some urgency. First, though, I must tell you that I love Ernie. I love him like no other human being, and the reason I love him in this very special way is reflected in the affectionate nickname I have for him.

Located at the Nunn Street railway crossing Benalla is a great old building, a signal box. I may seem biased writing as I was a cleaner/fireman on the VR in the late 1950's, but its sad to see it being vandalised [windows broken]. Its obviously on its last legs and needs help!!. I know I am opening a tin of worms suggesting this, but what can be done? All to soon it will be gone like most everything else. 'Now is the time to act'. Will finish hoping these remarks haven't fallen on deaf ears.

The number of ships waiting at Australian coal ports again emphasises our failure to develop our rail infrastructure.

Infamous in the burning quality of it's coal, WSCM was closed to the general public a few months ago. Tourists that come into the Township-Come in to the shoe shop wrench'es and sign the peititon to bring it to the standards of a working mine.
After all, Oldies? Didn't it power those engines to make good photos, and fuel our love for steam? People have been signing it from all around the state-from what I've seen, as far as Rowville. Come on' railfans.

The spirit of Christmas is certainly alive in the streets of Cowra.

One of the messages of the Christmas story is that our salvation is to be found in a place where we are least likely to look: among poor and forgotten people.
The Frankfurter Nicholas Initiative is a German group dedicated to reminding people of St Nicholas, the fourth-century priest who was the inspiration behind the bearded fellow in the red suit who is set to visit all the children in the world over the next day or two.

Sydney's population grows by almost 1000 a week but the train system is at a standstill, the buses crawl at horse-and-buggy pace through the CBD, and the transport duo, Costa and Scully, are implacably opposed to light rail.
It's enough to make an urbanite weep. The Government's successful policy of urban consolidation has not been matched by a workable public transport policy.

If Melbourne is to show a happy face, Flinders Street Station will need a lot of work, writes Alan Atwood.
ONE night recently I was gazing across the Yarra from the south side of Princes Bridge. I was admiring the view, especially the venerable Flinders Street Station all lit up, when I remembered the music I once heard seeping out of the building.
