Stored and stripped English Electric shunt loco, 516 awaits its fate at the Dry Creek MPC on 17th April 1998.
The loco had not long been stored and converted to standard gauge. Its broad gauge bogies were used to converted 518 from SG to BG and take up its role as the Penrice shunt loco. The back up Penrice shunt loco, 517 can be seen behind 516. Both units were owned by Australia Southern Railroad.
516 was also the last member of the 500 class to remain in service in its original SAR livery.
