    In August 1969 a tour was organised to Hepburn Colliery on the South Maitland Railways. 3801 was the train engine, Joined by 5913 at possibly Awaba, who took the train onto Maitland where she was replaced by SMR 31 for the run to Hepburn

    By 1968 the SMR had withdrawn all 3of its 15 class tanks,  copies of the NSW S (30) class . Numbers 15 and 16 were  to linger , relatively intact for for several years, but by this time number 29 and been partially dismantled
