The South Australian Railways built 34 of these English Electric powered shunters between 1964 and 1969 largely to replace steam on shunt duties around the state.
533 was the last delivered and entered service with the SAR on standard gauge in July 1969.
In Australian National service it was photographed at what was left of Mile End yards in April 1989.
It is one of only a handful of the class to survive privatisation and as of December 2014 was still in use with CF Rail Services (renumbered 53), remarkably shunting the very workshops where it was built.
