Yarding is located on the former Bruce Rock - York line. In 1985 the line was split, with the Shakleton - Bruce Rock section being serviced by West Merredin, Yarding being the only intermediate siding. The last trains ran out here in the late 1990's, the Yarding siding since having being removed to enable road trucks to service the facility here.
