Two former Commonwealth Railway GM class locos GM43/GM40 are stabled with their 80 wagon rake at Stirling North prior to another trip to the Leigh Creek coalfield.
Two rakes were in use daily supplying the power station(s) at Port Augusta until the late 1980s when they combined into one 160 wagon consist making one round trip per day.
Both locos still exist today (March 2015) with Genesee & Wyoming Australia although GM40 is currently stored.
