CLP9/8034 head the eastbound Indian Pacific near Belalie Rocks between Jamestown and Yongala in South Australia on 31 October 1993.
This was not long after the CLP rebuilds had re-entered service. At the time several New South Wales 80 class ALCos were involved with through working into South Australia - not sure whether this was a loco balance or additional power.
Happy to be corrected, but I think this was the only time an 80 class appeared on the IP in South Australia.
