On the narrow gauge Gladstone to Wilmington line, under threatening skies, narrow gauge Tulloch-Sulzer NT76 drops down hill to the site of the former siding of Yandiah with empty wagons destined for grain loading at Booleroo Centre on 19 February 1987.
NT76 has seen better days, having worked the route of the narrow gauge Ghan between Marree and Alice Springs and hauled heavy ore trains in the Northern Territory to the Port of Darwin. Withdrawn before the end of the year NT76 managed to survive into preservation with the Pichi Richi Railway.
I was lucky to get back to Adelaide that day, the rain that followed making some of the local dirt roads almost impassable.
