South Australia used to have an interesting if small network of regional passenger services which have gradually been reduced to nothing over the last 40 years or so.
The broad gauge link from Adelaide to Peterborough saw it's last passenger service on Saturday 13 December 1986. A group of us (there were more enthusiasts than passengers) had caught the last down train to Peterborugh on the Friday night and stayed in a local pub.
This is the last up run, pausing briefly at Gawler with just enough time for me to grab a shot of Bluebird railcars 106/206.
Just about everything has gone now - the canopy, the signal box, the railcars, and the Redhen suburban in the background.
