Australian National broad gauge locos 961/CK2/846 head a short rake of loaded cement hoppers from the cement works at Angaston towards Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley on 2 July 1994.
While the motive power might seem like overkill, the three locos would combine the cement loading with the daily limestone train at Nuriootpa for the run back to Adelaide.
All three locos had a bit of tale to tell, but 961 leading had been re-painted the previous year into a special livery to run tourist trains around South Australia. The initiative was not a success and 961 was consigned to working freight trains for the rest of its career.
Cement ceased being railed the following year and the stone train stopped running in mid-2014.
