Shunting at Cunningar Silo is quite a lengthy task, with trains spending most of the day there. The short lightly laid loop, means that 2 48 class at both ends are used to shunt the train. Every few hours when able to the train will return to Harden yard to drop off and pick up a new portion to be loaded at Cunningar before the train is eventually hauled to Port Kembla by the usual 81 class motive power.
In the middle of winter Grain Loading is still regular, and the days much shorter and colder. At about 5:15pm 48130 sits at the Harden end of this rake whilst being loaded by GrainCorp staff.
