GM 17 at Port Augusta, South Australia on 11/01/1984.
GM 17 (Clyde 57/137) entered service on 01/03/1957.
47 GM EMD ML1 & A7/A16 (similar to the F7 model) Class Locomotives were built between 1951 and 1967 at by Clyde Engineering, Granville, Sydney for Commonwealth Railways.
Their were two types:- 1st 11 were Model ML1 A1A-A1A built 1951/2 and 2nd 36 were Model A7/A16 Co-Co built between 1955 & 1967.
Only a handful of the 2nd type GM Loco's are now in service,
