entered service 08/1979, renumbered c1979 to DF 6058,
altered 1989 at Woburn Shops (livery:NZRC `Flying Tomato' Red/Yellow BS 08e51), rebuilt 28/05/1996 at Woburn Shops to DFT 7254 (EMD GT22MC) (livery:Tranz Rail `Cato Blue' (&Yellow BS 08e51/Grey BS 11A11) , modified diesel engine - turbocharged to 1,800 kW (2,400 hp)), accident 20/10/1999 at Waipahi (Accident, Loco Head on collison, with DC 4202. Driver killed in DFT and was decided to be renumbered once repaired out of respect.), reclassified 18/12/2006 at Woburn Shops to DFB 7348, re entered service c18/12/2006 (livery:Toll `Corncob' Yellow/Aquamarine, fitted with GE `Brightstar' adhesion control system), altered 05/2010 at Woburn Shops (livery:MAXX Dark Blue ) and
altered 29/07/2016 at Woburn Shops (livery:Kiwirail , Mk II (Vertical Seperations of Main Colours on Car Body) )
30 1650hp Co-Co Class DF GM EMD GL22MC Locomotives were built at GM EMD, Canada between 1979-1981. 30 were later rebuilt to EMD GT22MC 2400hp at Hutt Shops, Wellington, NZ mostly around 1996-1997 as Classes DFB, DFM and DFT.
