If you field is online and using the site why not be able to send them a message in instant system so you can chat between one another. To see if they are online why not show the status of a user being online or offline when you are in the forum posts and a user has posted. See you might want to ask a question and directly so you could click to instant message and then have a chat.

Why not build a train tracker service at railpage so we can all have access and it can be shared around between all the members freely.
The tracker has been taken down according to the forums bring it back.

There are good photos which should be easily shared can this be made to work like the other gallery stuff?

Maybe the newsletter could vary on a weekly basis consisting of news and also events on the system like the photocomp has been really good to watch. Maybe include most active or posted threads in the newsletter with links and also include new ideas what have been added so we get an idea that something new exists?

Has any thought been given to a user who has lost their password (i had issues today) having a feature to enter their email address and having done so their username and password will be sent to them probably a username and a new password reset link or screen?
Might be something worth thinking about.

A great addition would be the ability to upload a photo of a locomotive you were studying. I have recently added information about the scrapping of the BHP fleet and I have some images of those locos when I was up in the region last year.
It would be simple to allow users to contribute photos using an upload or contribute a photo link from the loco information page. Not the class page but the loco page itself.
You would then tag the loco and enter details of the location.
Can this be added?

Why stop at the images only. There is so much information on this site it would be great if the image fav idea could be extended to threads. There are threads I follow which do not get a lot of posting and sometimes i miss the email.
If you could list your favourite threads and then be able to select a thread from that listing. Hey that would be really cool!

Can you make it happen when a user posting in the forums uses a twitter @xxxxx for a railpage user that user is notified they have a mention. You could get an email notification like you get for subscribing to a thread and have a link to the mention.

The GTFS data is a way for users to gain access to timetable information. not sure what form it comes in other than computer language.
if the data is made available to Railpage then why not load it and when yuo are looking at a Victorian location on the data system (under locations) show the trains through that location including the train the time (in Railpage time) and the wait for the train.
Would be good.
So if you were at Seymour or A place on the Ballarat line and you are taking photos when you look at a location like https://www.railpage.com.au/locations/au/vic/bank-box-loop on line line show one line of weather as who cares and the timetable for trains up and down at that location for the next 4 ours say?

Currently when you wish to discuss the many news stories on this site (would like to see more) the discussions are created in a single forum news area.
What about this.
If the news item appears in International News then the discussion is created in international News as a new thread. Same for the other topics. Queensland News is placed in Queensland?
What do you think?

Good job reading on this site. It would be even better if once you are reviewing a job you then have the opportunity to create a discussion or join a discussion on the position.
This is similar to the current arrangement for news stories.
The discussion ideally would be placed into the employment discussion.
Can this be done?

The thought just occurred to me when chatting with the sweet chap from Gheringhap Loop on Facebook. it is convenient to chat online with a party who might be logged into the railpage system.
This is standard across google, yahoo and facebook.
Adding this ability would be great. Please consider this as it would be very useful when you are trying to look at a issues with the system and be able at the same time to converse on the subject with the railpage person or someone else you are wanting to chat with.

In Geelong there is a camera which can show trains when they are grain trains. add a camera to the railpage system which shows the images and can archive an image if required.
