Does BL33 actually have this livery? I remember sometime ago I asked about BL33s Overland paint & was informed that this was a computer generated image. True or false? (I'll try & dig up the thread regarding this question)

Well seeing that the image above (thanks to HHHHH) who found it, is the only recorded image of a BL in that livery, it seems certain that it is computer generated, plus the front looks a little edgy (to the trained eye).

I don't see why they just can't get a bloody plastic board with a hook at the top, and just clip it onto the trains... Have one for all the GSR services...

Exactly, it wouldn't hurt to use a headboard on the front of the loco to add that little bit extra to such a service, sort of help to distinguish it a little more.

A dedicated loco/s (BL?) would be nice too, like the IP/Ghan, but that's wishful thinking I know!  Rolling Eyes Be nice to see BLs constantly on the Overland again, instead of NRs...

Actually, there were on BG for a period of time, and nothing to stop them heading back. A bogie exchange is the only work required. They were on BG for their initial testing between two BLs. A BL+XRB+BL combo would be overkill for the Long Island run, as it only needs two locos at most. Otherwise, using a BL+XRB combo would entail shunting at each end.

For some pics of the XRB on BG go to http://www.vicsig.net/index.php?page=photos&section=search and enter:

The photos on Vicsmeg were for braking tests at Nar-Nar-Goon after manufacture at South Dynon - the BL's were attached purely as they're the only locos on BG for PN Intermodal.
