  pcm Station Master

Thanks for the info guys,

It's a pitty the freight isn't running as I am off down there tomorrow. I just hope it does start running again, though it does sound positive.

Cheers Peter.

If QUBE get more and more BG freight services, does this mean they might get some new BG locos or will they continue to use hired/ heritage locomotives?

If QUBE were to operate more BG freight they'd be more likely to use CFCLA B's, C's, G's or T's that aren't on full/long term lease.

Where would those come from? I don't think CFCLA has any left that aren't on some form of long term lease.

I don't know the leasing arragements of CFCLA hence the last 6 words of my initial post.

Why would QUBE go to a heritage operator to hire loco's when they might be available through a proper commercial loco hire company?

Cheap......

Because QUBE already hire locomotives through a heritage operator for the Deniliquin rice train.

G'day all.
My sources definitely confirmed today El Zorro will run to Warrnambool on behalf of QUBE next month.

It'll be good to see freight running down there again.
Cheers all.

I guess the locos that have just come off the grain train will go on this one? S's and T's? with the b and x when fixed?

So its confirmed that Elzorro are starting to run down here? Im presuming its on behalf of QUBE. A few questions it does raise.
*Last time they ran down. 1 wagon rake was used. This turned out to be 1 of there downfalls due to turnaround times.
*What times will it run? Last time was 0730 into Warrnambool. Out at about 1900 cross at camerdown. Then into melbourne strip and return. Often missing its path. Due to the need to be through Geelong about the 0415 mark. Thus a new crew were needed for the return as well.
*Port Access was another factor Im lead to beleive. PN give access straight to App dock. Where as ElZorro used to be North Dynon. With ElZorro will this be a North Dynon job. Or Westgate ports unload?
*Its claimed that the 14th is a start up date. Thursday. Is that Thursday morning ex Melbourne to Warrnambool. Or leave late thursday night for Friday here?
Still for me it will be good to get the G's, S, B and T's down here again. Dissipointing No Xs or As anymore. Please be aware these are my opions on this matter and mine only. I dont try and claim to be a expert but am just reading between the lines.

Qube own Westgate, so it would be fairly safe to guess where it will go.

I didnt forget X31.. Thanks for your help. I was thinking Westgate ports. But with the paper train soon to recommence running. It could prove a factor to hold ups. Unless of course there is the 2 rakes.

Local scuttlebutt suggests the Warrnambool freight will recommence this Thursday or Friday with El Zorro.......we will have to wait and see but I have been told the timber baulk across the line has been removed earlier this week. Hopefully a good sign.

Understand this will be a Qube service moving forward with El Zorro the temporary contractor.

Can anyone confirm?

Same deal as Emerald grain contract it seems. ELZ will run the Warrnambool freight until QUBE gets locos, wagons and crews issues sorted out. Once the new loop at wangoon is built sometimes next year, freight trains length will increase and frequensy reduced...perhaps 3 services a week. The rumour around the traps at the moment is hat QUBE would use West Swanston Dock sidings rather than Westgate sidings.
Driving down to the Bool next week and will keep you posted

Where is Wangoon, never heard of it ?  The new crossing loop is to be built at Warncoort at a location between the Up side of the Princes Highway level crossing and the Down end of Birregurra station .  Originally the loop was to be built in the vicinity of Boorcan between Camperdown and Terang but  the site has now changed to Warncoort .

The long awaited Warrnambool goods has just rolled out of the gloom past my kitchen window into Warrnambool about 7.40. It was past before I could get a good look but looked like a T and  S in VR clolours with a very motley collection of rolling stock trailing. So a fair guess might suggest El Zorro is the operator.

This is not a QUBE train it is an ElZorro Train contracted to Wettenhalls. Qube just strip and load at Melb.

No. Incorrect.

El Zorro, on behalf of QUBE, are operating the train until such time as QUBE have locomotives, wagons and qualified crew for that particular line ready for use.

So in the mean time, El Zorro are hauling the QUBE loads for Wettenhalls, Warrnambool.

Well how can you confirm its solely El Zorro?

I've heard from QUBE crews and other sources that this is the QUBE train being operated on behalf of QUBE by El Zorro. Hence the loading is QUBE and the rest El Zorro.
