QR Trainee Driver positions

You will most likely have to reapply for the position, if you have done the psychometric testing with in the last 12 months you will not need to sit it again. If you do apply and they accept your application you will most likely advance through to the interview.

The other point is you may not advance through like you have this time as the depot involved is usually part of the selection process.

BTW don't call QRN Aurizon, it hasn't gone to the shareholders for a vote yet. That happens in November.

I just had a look on the QR site again and the Melbourne trainee application has been taken down.  That wasn't up very long, only a few days

Could be a possible internal position advertised publicly?

I was going to apply for that spot but was annoyed when it got taken down... Sad

These positions were filled internally from what I hear.

They only advertised externally to fulfil their obligations under the Fair Work Act i believe.

Not very "fair" if it was meant to be an internal position then.

Gday,

Trainee positions today have been advertised on the QRN website for Forestfield, Merredin and Picton (Bunbury) a few of us have been put on hold since the end of March after sitting and passing our pyshcometric testing and interview, where do we stand in these current positions? Mind you I have just applied for these new positions that have been advertised.

Cheers

Hi everyone

Looking to apply for the above mentioned trainee driver position in Acacia Ridge. I'm 21, have been working in a warehouse as a lone worker for the past 2 years and have a cert 3 in transport and logistics.

Do I have any chance of getting the job? Been interested in freight/diesel trains all my life and looking for a new challenging career with progression and this would be a dream come true to get.

Could anyone impart any advice on any tips for my application, or anything in general? Thanks heaps

Do you have a chance? Yes. But get a professional to do your resume and focus on how you've demonstrated safety, teamwork, initiative and customer service in your work history. You're up against several hundred, even thousand for any advertised rail position (for a major company in a major centre, I've no idea where Acacia Ridge is though) so a slick application covering those points will put you in a front running position.

There's a stickied thread in the employment section which you should read.

Thankyou for re directing me, I just read the thread and that great long post detailing pretty much everything. What a huge help. Im in the middle of writing my cover letter and had already started to implement some of the suggestions anyway.

Thankyou for your help again. I've absorbed a lot of info in the past few hours and I admit it is a bit daunting, but fingers crossed I get it right and get a shot at this job.

Thanks again!

Hi Typhon

Are you able to tell me the name of the thread that gives you tips on filling in an application?  I am in a bit of a rutt in regards to applying for trainee positions.  I successfully applied for a position with QR at the start of the year, and i was successful in passing all the testing just to have the position postponed then cancelled.  Since then I haven't had any luck in applying for other trainee positions (mostly with PN) even though I tick all the boxes to get a job as a trainee driver.  So any tips I can get when applying for a trainee role would be great!

Thanks

Position has closed.

Hi Craig, I applied for the above positions, and it was my 18th application in 24 months. My motto is never give up, someone will get sick of seeing my name sooner or later and just give in. Without the ability of giving feedback, it is quite hard for me to determine what to change.

Typhon - Acacia Ridge is the Brisbane freight depot where interstate and long-haul freight trains leave from.

Giving this job a go as well, decided it's time to work out whether I can get anywhere with such a position. I've tried in the past with little life experience, but 10 years later ... who knows, might be the right time.

I've just completed the psychometric test, and wish everyone else all the best as well.

Well don't I just want to die. Internet fell out last night as i had completed my cover letter, was fixed this morning by a guy from our provider, go to apply and the position is closed........

I really hope some more pop up soon, would do unbelievable things to get out of current dead-end job!

Has anyone heard anything from the initial psychometric test done for the Acacia Ridge positions, they were apparently reviewing them today.
