Hello guys, this may sound like a stupid question, so sorry in advance, but I have to ask. If I failed the   psychometric test, taking into account the test results are valid for 12 months, do I have to wait a year to apply again?

As I understand it, you can reapply for the position but your results will be resused from any psychometric testing completed within the previous 12months prior.

Yes.

The important thing to do in the meantime is to find out specifically where you fell down on the test, and to what degree.  (Phone them up and ask; be polite but persistent about it.)

You are evaluated against other applicants based on your overall score for the test battery, but there are also minimum scores for each individual test.  You may find, as I did, that your overall score is excellent, but that you missed the minimum score on one particular test.  With some extra concentration in that area, that's a problem you may well be able to fix, once you have an opportunity to re-test.

Or, you may find that you have more widespread test score issues, in which case you're better off concentrating on operators other than Queensland Rail and Aurizon (QRN), who both use the same psychosometric test provider.

Either way, you can't fix or work around the situation unless you know exactly what stands in your path.

Hi Archer in response to your questions ...

The job involves different stages or levels which are completely different to what you now call AURIZON narrow guage ..It is with Aurizon Intermodal which comes under a NSW agreement a seperate entity to the Queensland cousin.
Intermodal you will start level 1 or 2 which involves safeworking both NSW and Qld ,shunting,Dangerouss goods ,Load and secure etc .Level 3 is equivilent to a DA or the old term fireman. Level  4 is Train Driver Main line some depots have 3.5 which is shunt driver in yard only but at Acacia Ridge its level 4 .

If sucessful you will you will learn the yard ,shunting on ground etc then progress up with training,
We do more than other Drivers in other companies we shunt on the ground  remarshalling consist etc,we load and secure ie walk our train for departure, wagon maintence ,prep and fuel locomotives ensure etc.
We have great locos weeding out the old girls mainly 4000 LDPS and the new 6000 class .
Once you progreess up the ladder you will learn the road to Taree its a 620km trip one way mainly 11/12 hr shifts departing at 1800 hrs  and a camp job .Trust me  its a bloody long way and a hard road to learn but its a great job every train is different meaning load.locos etc and are mainly 1400/1500m long,

But must be prepared to do the hard hards Intermodal ist like narrow guage where you are a driver in 12mts can take up to 3yrs .

Hope this helps good luck

This will be your bible. You will need to know all of this for your own good. I'm not a union hack either. Just trust me you will need to know this agreement back-to-front.

This is assuming you're going to be working for Aurizon.

Got my no thanks emails today from the WA jobs and Acacia Ridge........guess i just wasnt destined to be a train driver haha

Best of luck to you if you got through.  Very Happy

Wrong Agreement....You need the Interail Agreement if working south of Acacia Ridge.

Aren't the jobs in Acacia Ridge for Aurizon? Not Interail? Yes I am aware they're basically the same but whatever.

Hi Tigerblood &CSYOB
You both on the same path there are 2 QRN or should I say Aurizon depots at Acaica Ridge ...

1 is  Aurizon Narrow guage (Bulk East)
Comes under Qld EBA

The other is Aurizon Standard guage (Intermodal)
NSW agreement.

In wich the trainee psitions were advertised for.
