Wogman, well said.

Only reference I can find in PSP's press releases is this .....
Planned construction work at Penrice’s Adelaide chemical facility to implement Penrice’s business restructure has 3 main programmes, with soda ash plant decommissioning, sodium bicarbonate plant conversion to imported soda ash and new lime finishing plant from July 2013.

I understand that discussions are taking place now between GWA & Penrice, but with only about 150,000 tonnes I wouldn't be holding my breath.

Hi Folks,

I am currently on visit in Adelaide and like to take pictures and video from the Stonie. From my visit in 2010 I remember that the stonie passed Mawson Lakes around 13:00 and Gawler around 12:00, is this still the case ?
I am planning to go to Penrice Quarry, maybe on Tuesday, can someone give me a hint on the time  the loaded Stonie normally leaves Penrice ?

Thanks from a visitor from Germany,

Yeah more or less the same time, bar the odd rare occasion where technical problems cause it to run late. Latest I've seen was 10pm, guess something really broke that day.

The 'stonie' is back!

The last train to Penrice on the old daily service ran on Sunday, June 30 with 19 wagons.  In the previous week the consists varied between 26 and 19 - a normal week. A relief 830 class ran light to Penrice in the middle of the week and returned with the train with 704 in the lead.

No trains ran between July 1 and July 7.  The Seppeltsfield Rd (Dorien) level crossing was a hive of activity on Monday July 1 with several maintenance crews working on the crossing barriers with their vehicles parked nearby.  A truck with a large tank on the back was travelling slowly on the rails between Nuriootpa and Dorien - weed killer?

Monday, July 8 the train had 26 wagons.  It was too foggy to see what was at the front - but it looked like an 830 class with 704.

The question is: how many of these will run each week?
