    just letting everybody know that Ballarat model railway Exhibition is on Queens Birthday weekend, I know it gets cold up here but we would like the support of the model railway family,    We need it to be a success so the smaller Exhibitions can show  what they can do, so come along and support our trade stands and see what Ballarat can do.  We are also saying a final goodbye to Phoenix Electric (yes we have said this before) but the fat lady will sing and that will be it.

    Hi Peter,

    Great to hear the Ballarat Model Railway Exhibition is on again.

    Can you please up date this thread with the details of the exhibition please?

    A bit more information other than the date would be great. Maybe address, opening/closing times and prices etc.

    Weather Update from Ballarat,  very cold over night but at 10:30 this morning it is bordering on tropical the word around is that it will get up around the mid 20's

    so if you are coming up the Highway don't forget the sunscreen and the sun glasses, also the weather will be the same until Tuesday.

    hoping to see you all up here in Paradise.

    While the exhibition was great, and thank to all who attended, it was overshadowed by the Ballarat club rooms being broken into. Someone or someones took advantage our absence during the weekend and helped themselves to track, wire, paint, buildings, tools and electrical equipment.

    Also the HO and N room DCC system are gone as are all the club Cabs.

    An estimate of $10 000 of stuff is gone but thankfully the place was not trashed, concluding that whoever broke in knew what they were after.

    I didn't get to drop in to the exhibition this year (was out the other side of melbourne instead), but that is really poor form to hear of the clubs theft.  Most guys here would know that clubs aren't made of money, and just about every dollar they earn/raise goes straight back into the hobby for its members to enjoy.  The Ballarat guys are lucky enough to have a fairly large venue to work with, and require a lot of equipment to make it happen, so that value on gear would be an absolute kick in the guts.  Thoughts certainly go out to the Ballarat crew, and hope the gear turns up again (sadly, not likely though).

    That really is a shame, I certainly feel for you guys. Pathetic doesn't cover it, especially when you're out busting your backsides for a whole long weekend, plus all the extra time planning etc, trying to put a show on in the community and someone has the audacity to steal from the club.

    Hopefully all that missing gear turns up and they get caught.

    Like Dave says.  Put a list up here so that all Railpagers know what to look out for and if any comes on the market we can hammer the bugger.  Keep an eye out of flea bay and other sites for fencing stolen gear.

    The way you describe it they took stuff either to use themselves or flog second hand.  This stuff could travel some distance so put the list up here and send around to clubs Australia wide.

    Sure is, it's at a new venue this year also. I'll be there with a couple of new FMAU modules with a couple of newly constructed modules by MMRC members, too! Very Happy
