@62440 : You will actually find that many people alight the Outer Harbor / Grange trains at Bowden and transfer to the Tram.

It's how the fare evaders get around passing through the barriers at Adelaide Station since the Tram is free from the Entertainment Centre to South Terrace.

Yes there was a large crowd that got of a city bound train at Bowden a while back the minute the ticket inspectors came into the car. It happens a lot.

They are so easy to evade I remember on the Gawler Central train heading to Gawler Central the train was stopping at Dry Creek an inspector was currently in this carriage at the front doors some guy at the stop got up ready to board the train the moment he saw the inspector he stepped back and sat down at the stop and waited for the next train. I know the inspectors on the Noarlunga Line are a bit more crafty heading to Adelaide for example they will let everyone board up to Oaklands from Noarlunga then when the train runs express to Adelaide from Oaklands its inspection time. One guy got caught out because of this and almost got a fine if it wasnt for a generous passenger nearby.

What did the generous passenger do?  Give him a spare ticket?

To get back on track ...... drove through North Tce at 5:30pm
The site is still a hive of activity.
Overhead appears all done (including the cross over).
Concrete between the rails all done.
Some concrete curbing between the tracks being poured under and just east of Morphett St Bridge.
Crews preparing to lay bitumen on the outsides of the track concrete slab.

Note to Mods and regular posters:- Maybe we need a thread specifically dealing with Fare Evaders, as the subject seems to frequently creap into most of the metro PT threads

May be a bit pedantic, I know, but I'm still amazed that none of the trams are capable of displaying their actual destinations during these periods of disruption.

The Glenelg to Rundle Mall runs I saw on Friday were showing "West Terrace via City" on the Flexitys and either "West Terrace" or "Adelaide Metro - Welcome Aboard" on the Citadis.

When I caught a tram to the city a week or two ago, the afternoon Victoria Square was closed for a good few hours by a bomb scare, all the trams which turned back at South Terrace were still showing "Entertainment Centre" - even though there was no provision for onward shuttle buses to the EC at that time.

Surely the electronic displays can accomodate all the destinations where there are crossovers and trams could be turned back during disruption:  Victoria Square, Rundle Mall, Adelaide Rail Station, Brighton Road etc. (but no-longer City West).  And maybe even Beckman Street and Morphett Road.

If this is all too hard maybe just one generic "CITY", like the Melbourne W-class had.  Why pretend the tram is going to West Terrace when it is going nowhere near, and the connecting shuttle buses actually go all the way through to the Entertainment Centre?
