Would anyone happen to have any photographs of the Ballarat-Skipton railway that they could share? Extensive googling has failed me.

You could try the Public Records Office of Victoria: http://prov.vic.gov.au/

Try an advanced search for Skipton AND railway, I found a small number of records.

I don’t have any photos to share personally but if you go looking they can be found.


This website [color=#800080][size=3][font=Times New Roman]http://www.vicrailstations.com/[/font][/size][/color]  has some pictures of what the stations on the line look like today as does the article on the line at the Australian Rail Trails website.


As for historic photos the best place to look for them is in books with some to be found in several of the Train Hobby Publications while the whole railway itself was the subject of a book published a few years ago called Cross Country. It has many photos in it and can still be found in a few public libraries.  

The latest Train Hobby Publications 'Country Branch Lines Victoria, part 8' should feature the Skipton Line extensively. It's just released.

Thanks for your help. I was looking in particular for photos of the Linton station, none of which exist on PROV.

I found this book yesterday in a bookshop. It looks brilliant, and definitely had some of the photos I was looking for.

Thanks for those links. Theres some useful pictures on that site.
However, I was primarily looking for Linton station, which is sadly lacking in most sources.

Cross Country, by Norm Houghton and Jack McLean, has 3 images of Linton. All are by John Dare, so other books he's contributed to might also have some.
