What bogies were used ?? I'm doing HO scale layout but my powerline FS. Bought off ebay came with two different bogies. I know what they look like but don't know the numbers/letters. I plan on buying white metal , so if you know where to get them .
Is there anything wrong with the PL bogies?
The reason I ask is that I know of a fair few modellers who actually replace the bogies supplied in HUB/RUB cars with the PL versions as they are quite ok & better than the ones in the kits.
A bit of research will show that there were different bogies under them throughout their lives & as drover has suggested the 2BS were fitted later in life. While I cannot think of the codes either, in earlier times the bogies they were fitted with 2 AN types which were friction bearing, while the similar rebuilt 2 AJ with Roller Bearings were also fitted to the carriages as well & both of these bogies looked similar to the other.
I no longer have any of the PL carriages but I found nothing wrong with them as far as running was concerned, certainly replacing the original pizza cutter deep flanges was essential, for aesthetic purposes only. The bogies however IIRC if original were correct types for the cars anyway.
A while back I was given some early models that had white metal bogies supplied with them but no wheels, when trying to fit wheels to a couple of them the frames snapped off as they are quite rigid, modern castings may be better but something to consider in any purchase.
