The Northern and Newcastle & Central Coast lines are partially closed between Epping and Hornsby, in that direction only due to a train with mechanical problems near Pennant Hills. A train service is operating back and forth between Chatswood and Epping. Trains that normally operate to Hornsby via Macquarie Park are now operating to Hornsby via Pymble. Buses are being organised to operate a replacement service but are yet to arrive. Passengers are advised to delay their journey or allow plenty of extra travel time. Passengers are able to use their train ticket on HillsBus and Transdev services in the area. Trains on the Northern and Newcastle & Central Coast lines towards the Sydney CBD are still operating. Passengers travelling to Hornsby can travel on the Northern Line via Macquarie Park and change at Chatswood for a train to Hornsby on the North Shore Line. Passengers should listen to station announcements and check indicator boards.

Western and Inner West Line trains from the City are terminating at Olympic Park. Passengers need to travel to Olympic Park to catch replacement buses. Southern Highlands Line  - Delays


The 6.14pm Moss Vale to Campbelltown train is being replaced by buses due to a train with mechanical issues, also the 7.38pm Campbelltown to Moss Vale train will also be replaced by buses. Passengers should check indicator boards, listen to station announcements and allow additional travel time.

An Up service was delayed by 40 minutes this morning due to a train requiring mechanical repairs.

Trains on the Bankstown, Inner West and South lines that normally travel via Town Hall were diverted via Museum due to emergency track equipment repairs between Town Hall and Wynyard. Airport & East Hills Line trains continued to operate via Town Hall. Passengers are advised to listen to station announcements and check indicator boards.

Passengers travelling from Gosford to Hornsby on the Newcastle & Central Coast Line were advised to allow additional travel time due to a train with mechanical problems at Gosford. Additionally the 6.36am Newcastle to Central train was cancelled at Gosford. Passengers are advised to listen to station announcements and check indicator boards.

Passengers catching Western Line trains towards Penrith and Blue Mountains Line trains towards Lithgow are advised to allow additional travel time after an earlier fatality at Wentworthville. Passengers should check indicator boards and listen to station announcements.

There were delays in the AM peak this morning on the North Shore and Northern Lines plus flow-on effects to the Western Line due to urgent infrastructure repairs at Wollstonecraft and a medical emergency at Lindfield with some services subsequently running to altered stopping patterns.

Urgent track repairs at Central Intercity saw some services delayed on the Blue Mountains and IIRC South Coast Lines.

Late this morning, some services were delayed on the Inner West and South Lines due to a train requiring mechanical repairs at Central. As a result, at least one service suffered an altered stopping pattern due to severe late-running.

TRACKWORK - Weekend of Aug 31/Sept 1:

TRANSPORT - SYDNEY TRAINS

North Shore Line:

Buses replace trains between Hornsby and Wynyard. As a result, services stopping at Berowra, Mount Kuring-Gai, Mount Colah and Asquith will operate all stations to/from Epping.

Northern Line:

Buses replace trains between Epping and Chatswood via Macquarie Park due to trackwork. As a result, regular services will operate between Hornsby and Central Intercity via Strathfield. Also, there will be a shuttle service in operation between Berowra and Epping.

Trains via Strathfield will start/terminate at Central Intercity due to trackwork on the North Shore Line. Customers travelling further will be required to change at Central for City Circle services.

Western Line:

As a result of trackwork on the North Shore Line (see above), trains will start/terminate at Central Intercity. Customers travelling further will be required to change at Central for City Circle services.

Newcastle & Central Coast Line:

Services at Berowra may depart from different platforms.


Rosehill Races - Sat Aug 31

An additional charter shuttle operates between Clyde and Rosehill Racecourse for the convenience of racegoers. Please be reminded that customers are required to be in possession of valid transport tickets for the entire length of their journey. Some South Line services will make an additional stop at Clyde.

Campbelltown Family Show - Aug 29-31

A special shuttle service will be in operation between Campbelltown and Menangle Park.

Western Line - Partial Closure

Trains have been suspended on the Richmond branch line between Clarendon and Mulgrave in both directions due to urgent track repairs at Mulgrave. Partial Closure can be expected. A replacement bus service has been arranged between Clarendon and Mulgrave and forecast to arrive in 50 minutes. Train stopping patterns may change at short notice. We advise you to listen for announcements and check indicators before boarding trains.

Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line - partial closure

Trains have been suspended on the Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra and South Coast Lines between Bondi Junction and Central in both directions due to a fatality at Martin Place. Partial Closure can be expected. Sydney Buses are recognising train tickets in the affected area. We recommend you delay your journey or make alternative arrangements. Police and emergency services are in attendance. At this stage we do not have a forecast of when the line can be reopened. We will provide further information as it becomes available.

Passengers on the Western Line are advised buses are replacing trains between Richmond and Clarendon due to a power surge which is affecting signals in the area. Passengers should allow additional travel time, check indicator boards and listen to station announcements.

Hunter Line:

Passengers travelling on the 10.13am Muswellbrook to Newcastle train on the Hunter Line were advised to allow an additional 35 minutes travel time due to a train requiring mechanical repairs earlier.

Blue Mountains Line:

Passengers travelling on the 7.21am Central to Mount Victoria train on the Blue Mountains Line were advised to allow up to 30 minutes extra travel time due to a train with mechanical problems at Lawson. The Blue Mountains Line was later partially closed between Woodford and Lithgow *in that direction only* due to a train requiring mechanical repairs at Lawson. Buses may have supplemented some services between Hazelbrook and Mt Victoria. Train services were back in operation by 11am. Passengers should allow plenty of additional travel time and listen to station announcements.

South Coast Line:

Passengers travelling on the 9.27am Central to Kiama train on the South Coast Line were advised to allow an additional 25 minutes travel time due to a police operation at Sutherland earlier.
