Time to move on. Boats stopped and all dark skinned immigrants and refugees successfully demonised.

This week it's the turn of the unemployed and the unions.

Single mothers next week. After that Cory will be let out of his cage to have another go at the gays.

Then who's next?

At least the boat numbers have slowed so it is time to move onto the next problem.

Watch Bill & the others squirm when the heat is turned on the unions.   Like ants under a magnifying glass.

Possibly some of them. Saying that all Unions are bad is as illogical as saying that all Indians are bad. It doesn't matter what class or grouping you're talking about - some will be good, some will be questionable, and some will be absolutely R/S. The current scream is about the CFMEU; I don't think you could put a mob like the Nursing Federation in the same boat.

Now our wannabe dictator doesn't want the media to report allegations.
Sorry, media should read "ABC". That's fair enough given no one else would ever report mere allegations, especially if the LNP didn't like them. He needs a “patriotic” propaganda ministry. Perhaps his mates Jones or Hadley could run it Rolling Eyes

As for dealing with real issues.

The previous administration was dead keen about the AWU slush fund being reported weren't they?

Maybe you should go over the time line for that one including calls from the PM directly to the chairman of a media group.

They're working on making those the only ones you hear about.
As for "the unions" (they're bacccccckkkkkkkkkkkk). The government can apply the law when laws are being broken Idea
Simply more of this 'them vs us' rhetoric that small-minded, tightRsed types respond to. Jones and Co will predictably reinforce the siege mentality Mad

Actually, I don't need to get my information from a tabloid, and I never buy or read one. I get my view of unions from first hand experience of their bullying and coercion tactics.

But I am always willing to try new experiences, so let me know which newspaper you work for and I will promise to only read that one. It will be full of absolute truth of course, following the fine tradition of British newspapers...

The spokesman for the 'University of Adelaide' needs to tell the government that this is not necessary and Defence/Customs have got it wrong Surprised

Customs head apologises to Indonesia over breaches of territorial waters

The head of Customs and Border Protection says he is discussing with Defence and the Government if changes need to be made to Australia's border protection operation in the wake of repeated breaches of Indonesia's sovereignty by the Navy.
Michael Pezzullo has joined the Defence Force and the Government in apologising unreservedly to Indonesia and is currently considering a detailed report on the incidents, which occurred as part of Operation Sovereign Borders.
He says the breaches were accidental.
"The Government has apologised to that country, Indonesia, unreservedly for the incursion ... and ... I add my apology to what's already been stated", Mr Pezzullo told the ABC's AM program...

I don't have any issue in turning back boats when it is safe to do so. However government hiding behind contrived secrecy to avoid any embarrassment is a first order W#NK. Last time I checked our personnel didn't swear a solemn oath to Abbott Mad

Have you noticed that boats have stopped arriving?

Two things are at play here - the first that they are forcibly turning boats backs and secondly they are not publicly giving information out except in a controlled manner. Much the same that happens with any other military operation.

Defence personal do not swear an oath to the current PM whoever that may be, but they carry out the military operations of the Government of the day. Generally, they do not give a running commentary to the media on what they do either.

And they will see the customs staff arresting these people and getting them SENT BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM.   Sounds like a similar plan, same result.   Yes, should be compulsory viewing, stop a few more in their tracks and help the overworked customs staff.

Craig W, have the boats really stopped???
SAR520SMBH

There have been no boats for 7 or 8 weeks now, compared with a heck of a lot this time last year.

But the government hasn't cut the refugee intake quota nor the third world migrant quota. So we will see the same number of third world migrants arriving, it's just that they will be genuine refugees sourced from refugee camps rather than people rich enough to fly to Jakarta, hire accommodation for a month and then pay $15,000 to $20,000 to a people smuggler for a spot on a leaky boat.

So we have put an end to the circumstances that allowed over 1,000 clients of people smugglers to drown at sea, AND we have a more deserving type of third world migrant. To me this looks like a win for everyone?

Bogong, how do you know that there's been no boats for 7 or 8 weeks???

Spot on, Pressman.

The limited amount of  fertiliser fed to the mushrooms, on this and other subjects, has often been changed, corrected or refuted by other parties concerned.

Go have a look at any of the tin pot "alternative" sites? Any boat arrivals mentioned ... no? Any deaths at sea? No.....

The "best" that  anyone can come up with are some highly unlikely "torture" allegations.

The Government has said there have been no arrivals, they have announced in the weekly briefings when they have turned back a boat without giving specifics.

In the absence of any accurate and verifiable information then one must assume they are .... oh how this must hurt... telling the truth.

So much for the overblown "it can't be done" rhetoric eh?

Now Customs also acknowledge mistakes and (maybe) the need for an operational review whereas Railpage's spokesman for the University of Adelaide has always maintained they are doing nothing wrong Surprised

One can only guess why this has happened on several occasions. Poor Training? Faulty Equipment? Over zealous personnel? Government pressure? These are things you want to keep secret from the country and it's reassuring that this lot of pollies is allowed to hide behind 'Operation Cover Our AR se' Mad
The hypocrisy is transparent. There is no way this lot and their media acolytes would let a Labor government get away with it.

The problem is the media did let the ALP get away with it - that is why over 1000 died on their way here and still more were lining up to pay to get here.   If the media was really critical (esp the luvvies at the ABC & Fairfax) then the ALP might have actually done something to stop the boats - oh sorry they did - Malaysia, PNG.   Talk about  'Operation Cover Our AR se' Mad

Not interested in getting my news from tinpot sources.
The tourture claims, in my opinion, and it is only opinion, a load of sh?t.
If you assume they are telling us the truth, well..... They have been shown to be lose with truth, at best. Remember what Sharmon Stone called Tbott, twice.
Never said it can't be done, operation Soverign borders appears to be a huge success. The previous mob didn't have the political will to implement such a policy. Association with the Greens, and Senetor Sarah Hanson No-Idea?
As for deaths at sea, I'm sure that most people want to see an end to that. However, several people I've discussed the subject with are of the view, that, if you elect to get on a leaky boat, and it sinks, you've no one to blame but yourself. Harsh? Certainly.
But has been effectively used as a tool to gain political traction with the rednecks.
