Has anyone fitted Kadees to Eureka's 623/723s?

I am having derailing problems when pushing trailer car and suspect the existing couplers.

I have removed one concertina section and also played with extending the exisiting coupler as it appeared that the power coach was touching the underpowered and it has not made any difference, back to back are OK.

What radius of curve are you using? (Or angle number of turnouts?)

They can't take 18" radius, I've tried it...

It will run on 18" radius with the couplers not mated, giving a greater distance between the cars.
(I did this to demonstrate the cars away from home on the only sectional track I had...)

The reason the problem is worse pushing is that the coupler distance closes up when pushing.

Longer shank couplers should work.

It was running for many years on our Tumut Branch Line model without any problems it is only recently the derailing is a occurring.

There is not space to put Kadees as the bogies are close to the end of the carriages and the existing fitting does not allow one to be fitted.

We are using the Peco short points.

The carriages were touching when pushing that is why I removed the concertina section and now they do not but still derail

Check for clearance between the bogie frame and steps. On a sharp curve it will be very close. If the steps have recently been bent (or straightened) then that could be your problem. With adjustment, the 620/720 will easily negotiate sharper than 18 inch radius curves.
