It's not shown on the train website yet, but information says yet ANOTHER break down at Beecroft, delaying the 16:45 Central to Newcastle train. Surely, that should've been shown by now.

4206, the delay you copied has now been changed to include the 16:20 Gosford to Central

"Passengers catching the 3:45pm Central to Newcastle train and the 4:20pm Gosford to Central train on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line are advised to allow additional travel time after mechanical problems with the trains earlier. Oops, did they forget to use the 24 hour clock?

Edit: 4206, that sounds like either three separate delays, or one delay affecting one train in each direction.

Edit: Nope, that's three separate delays.

Didn't night work just occur between Central and Bondi? Did they create the problem themselves or just fail to notice/rectify it? Now it's

Passengers catching trains on the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line and South Coast Line are advised to allow plenty of additional travel time due to a tree on the line at Oatley and earlier track repairs at Martin Place. Oh yeah right... must have been aaaaaaaall the fault of those pesky track workers. Seriously was that the ONLY reasonable conclusion you could jump to?

As for the fallen tree at Oatley, it's unseasonably windy today, to the extent that the Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds. So it's a bit harsh blaming that on Sydney Trains. Maybe we should just be thankful that it fell on one of the few areas of the metropolitan network that is equipped for bi-directional running so that trains can still get through in both directions?

And what are your "reasonable conclusions"? Running maintenance not being one of them. Blame the passengers somehow. Guess it's lucky another chunk of metal isn't through the floor of a Tangara though right?

I'll give you the tree falling however very strange how easily a tree can fall on train tracks whenever the wind blows. Far less than a highway or major road. And given the wind in the CBD might be strong enough to knock over a little old lady I have my doubts. Just because the BoM issues a warning for a large area doesn't mean all (or any) of it will actually be impacted

The BoM warning was justified. Yesterday in Sydney and the south coast there were over 12,000 households without power and over 1000 callouts to the SES for help. Is that a big enough impact for you?

As for the impact on trains, high winds are always the worst weather condition for the network and cause the most disruption because high winds bring down trees (and other debris) not only on tracks but also on overhead wires.

Trees fall on roads all the time, but a fallen tree has a far greater impact on a train line than on a roadway and I'm sorry if you can't see the difference.
