Frankston line is running buses between Cheltenham and Mordialloc. Metro Notify hasn't pushed out any messages but the line is showing as suspended.

Police request. Metro saying the line will remain suspended for "several hours"

Usually means someone is being or has been naughty or exterminated themselves somewhere.

A brief closure Mordialloc - Frankston has been lifted

anyone know what was going on this morning? Some trains were skipping stations due to signalling issues?

for me, it was FREAKING AWESOME! I caught the 7.13am from Seaford and it stopped at Carrum, then ran straight to Mordialloc, then Cheltenham, then Caulfield, then carried on as normal to Richmond.

It was my fastest trip in to work ever. The train was reasonably full but not at crush, people didn't have to trample each other to get out at Richmond; I wish they'd run like that every day. Very Happy

Might be due to poor signal sighting in fog.  That affects the ability to run the normal timetable meaning some trains may have had to be altered.

Metro didn't pay their power bill down SE way again? Buses were on the Frankston line this morning due to "power issues".

Dramas on the Sandringham line this morning. A badly burnt body found next to the tracks near Alma Rd, St Kilda East. Possible electrocution due to misadventure (i.e train surfing). Line suspended between Elsternwick and Sth Yarra.

On the news last night, it was said a petrol can was found at the scene.

So what are the actual reasons for a train being late or canceled when metro says 'due to a faulty train'? Frankston line has about 4 trains being shown as late or canceled this morning and that's the excuse. Not enough drivers?

Frankston line schedule is up the creek at flinders

Entire Caulfield group suspended since 1437 today due to a 'medical emergency'. I am anecdotally hearing this may have involved a woman struck by a train, but can't confirm much yet.

EDIT: Yup.

I'm not sure if it was because of this lady being struck, but a siemens train was running empty through platform 9 at Southern Cross and through the Clifton Hill loop tunnel at 1550. I haven't seen one on this platform before.

I wake up this morning to find out the system shut down briefly earlier, another water leak at Metrol maybe?

Metro Trains website showing major delays across most of the network. Whatever the problem it is obviously large.

Defective signals on Frankston line this morning. It's taken just under an hour to get from Seaford to Caulfield.

Defective Frankston bound train had to be emptied at Richmond. Every train behind it is at crush.

Major delays across most of the Melbourne network due to equipment disrupted bt lightening storms.

I find it hard to believe that modern electrical equipment in 2014 cannot be designed to be lightening proofed.

As far back as 1909 PMG telephone exchanges had lightening arresters which protected the equipment.

We seem to have gone backwards.

All lines except Stony Point are reporting major delays of up to 40 minutes due to storm damage at Flinders Street.

All trains skipping the loop with the exception of the Clifton Hill group.
The entire Upfield line has been closed.
The Ballarat line is only operating in one direction (citybound).
