Seeing as no W.A preservation happenings seem to be posted in this thread, I thought I would link a blog on the overhaul of S549 so people from other states can see some of what is happening here in West Aussie.

Thanks for the heads up QSB6
And the reason for the two capacities is some of the S's had upgraded tenders on the same frames for more water.
S547 at bellarine has the large tender whilst S549 has the small variant. Coal capacity does not vary as far as I know. Also interesting snippet both S547 and 549 have each others tenders respectively.

This is an impressive document in that it is well written and is supported by good photos.
It is a real contrast to the normal almost complete lack of information from most gunzel groups.
I'll pass on your compliments to him! He'll be happy to hear good feedback. Not only is he in charge of that, but he is the main guy in charge of the project.
Couple of new updates on the blog, things are starting to ramp up again!Great update. Also a great example of 'old' skills being passed on to a new generation. I really like the test bed set-up. It's simple, effective and I guess also acts as evidence of training & competence for your guys should the 'authorities' wish to know.

Can't find updated blog. Well done by the way. Great to see a group doing things like this (I know they all do) but prepared to put it online and make it available for all to see. Keeps majority of people happy, interested and maybe just maybe more may become involved if a clear step by step process is being shown. Well done to all involved. If you go to the main site linked; http://s549.blogspot.com.au/
