The Rail Revival Alliance has called on the new Andrew's Labor government to increase the level of passenger rail services on the Maryborough line. Rail Revival President, Noel Laidlaw said that the current two trains per day was an inadequate service for a community such as Maryborough and the three communities along the line that are currently served by the train.
"Ararat, a city of comparable size to our own has three trains each way every day plus one additional train four days per week", Mr. Laidlaw said.
The focus of this group appears to have shifted from the Maryborough to Castlemaine line to more trains to Maryborough and Maryborough to Geelong. I like the comment about the bogus costs for the line reopening.
Will Andrew's look at the reopening of this line and is it possible to put additional services on to match those of Ararat?
